What is 5-Amino-1MQ

5-Amino-1MQ is an oral small molecule that inhibits nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme overexpressed in the adipocytes of people with obesity. By blocking NNMT, it raises NAD+ and SAM levels within fat cells, promoting increased lipid metabolism in preclinical models. Studies in mice have shown reductions in fat mass without changes in food intake, but robust clinical data in humans are lacking.
