DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide · DSIP peptide)
Delta sleep-inducing peptide and neuroendocrine modulator
What is DSIP
DSIP is a nonapeptide originally isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits by Schoenenberger and Monnier (1977), associated with the induction of slow-wave (delta) sleep. It acts as a neuroendocrine modulator, influencing hormone release and demonstrating effects on circadian rhythms, thermoregulation, and stress. Despite its name, its direct hypnotic action in humans remains controversial, with most of the evidence derived from animal models.
