What is HCG

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein that mimics the action of LH at the LH/hCG receptor, stimulating Leydig cells to produce testosterone and, in women, inducing ovulation. It is approved for hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, cryptorchidism, and ovulation induction in assisted reproduction. In TRT, it is used to preserve testicular volume and function.

Side effects

  • •Acne, gynecomastia from increased estradiol, fluid retention, mood changes, and local reactions. In women, risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

Contraindications
