What is MK-2866 (Ostarine)

MK-2866 (Ostarine/Enobosarm) is a non-steroidal selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that preferentially activates androgen receptors in muscle and bone, with less effect on the prostate and other tissues. The selective mechanism aims for lean mass gain with a reduced androgenic side-effect profile compared to steroids. Phase II clinical trials (Dalton et al., 2011) demonstrated increased lean mass and improved physical function in the elderly and in patients with cachexia.

Side effects

•Mild to moderate suppression of the testosterone axis, reduction of HDL, possible elevation of liver enzymes, and headache. Suppression tends to increase with higher doses and longer cycles.

Contraindications

•Pregnancy and lactation, prostate or breast cancer, liver disease. Substance banned in sport (WADA) and not approved for human use. Strictly experimental use.
